Job Description:

A pharmacy technicians  main duty is to distribute prescription medications to individuals.

- Compounding the medication is also a part of their day to day job duties, which is the mixing of the different ingredients to make the drug. Job duties can also include  to advise their customers about the drugs that are being prescribed to them, such as dosages, interaction with other drugs, potential side effects and to answer any other questions the patient may have.
- Pharmacy Technician also counsel their customers on the use of over-the-counter medicines, and can provide information on general health topics, including diet and exercise.
- Maintain records, such as pharmacy files, patient profiles, charge system files, inventories, control records for radioactive nuclei, and registries of poisons, narcotics, and controlled drugs.
- Provide specialized services to help patients manage conditions such as diabetes, asthma, smoking cessation, or high blood pressure.
- Collaborate with other health care professionals to plan, monitor, review, and evaluate the quality and effectiveness of drugs and drug regimens, providing advice on drug applications and characteristics.
- Prepare sterile solutions and infusions for use in surgical procedures, emergency rooms, or patients' homes

Pharmacy Technician Job Responsibilities:

1. Under the supervision of the pharmacist, assists in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state, federal and company policy.
2. Provides customers with courteous, friendly, fast, accurate and efficient service.
3. Handles telephone calls that do not require the personal attention of the pharmacist.
4. Assures that the pharmacy is kept clean, orderly, and stocked with adequate supplies.
5. Maintains appropriate registration as required.
6. Processes customer purchases on pharmacy cash register and collects and handles cash as required.
7. Processes manual claims for third party program prescription services, and performs other clerical duties as assigned by the pharmacist.
8. Performs duties assigned by the pharmacist relating to inventory control.
9. Completes assignments and works on special projects as instructed by the pharmacist.
10. Audits own performance and recommends own objectives and standards of performance.
